Stand-downs and suspensions
Cases per 1,000 students in 2025, adjusted for the ages of the school’s students, compared with all New Zealand schools.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from November 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well new structures and culturally relational teaching lead to fairer outcomes, including closing the gap in NCEA results between Māori and non-Māori students.
ERO noted a positive school culture built on strong relationships between staff, students and whānau, pastoral and academic mentoring focused on each student, an inclusive culture with facilities and support for students with additional needs, and progress already made towards culturally sustaining practice.
Next, the school plans to develop a shared picture of effective, student-centred teaching, provide professional learning so teaching is inclusive and responsive, and build its ability to evaluate how these changes affect classroom practice and student outcomes.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places.
In-zone families apply online and provide proof of the student’s identity and documents showing they live in the zone. The school publishes its out-of-zone places and ballot dates on its enrolment page each year.
