Stand-downs and suspensions

These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from August 2026. ERO judged the school to be doing well in 11 of the 14 areas it rates and excelling in its provision for students with additional needs, with a well-resourced Learning Support Centre.
ERO found achievement generally strong and improving: by the end of Year 10 a large majority of students reach expected levels in reading, writing and maths and gain NCEA Level 2 and Level 3, most make expected progress, and teaching, assessment, the curriculum, leadership and governance were all rated well. The on-site farms are a core part of the curriculum.
ERO rated attendance and equity as areas still working towards the expected standard. Only a small majority of students attend regularly, although attendance is improving, and a small majority gain University Entrance.
Girls achieve at higher levels than boys, with the widest gap at University Entrance, and outcomes for Māori and Pacific students are not yet equitable. ERO’s next steps are to lift regular attendance, speed up progress for boys, Māori and Pacific students, and improve reading in Years 9 and 10.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places.
Families print and complete the school’s enrolment form and return it with the supporting documents, or phone the office to arrange enrolment during the year. The school publishes its enrolment closing date and form on its enrolment page each year, along with a written description of the zone boundary.
Boarding places at LJ Wild House have their own enrolment process through the hostel pages.
