What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from June 2026. ERO rated the school as doing well in 13 of its 14 areas, finding that most students meet or exceed curriculum expectations in reading and a large majority in writing and maths, with targeted literacy and maths support helping priority learners make progress.

Results are equitable in reading and writing, but girls, many of them English language learners, do less well than boys in maths, and writing results still vary. A large majority of students attend regularly and attendance is nearing the government’s target.

ERO also noted strong trust between leaders, staff, the board and the community, a welcoming environment with restorative practices, te ao Māori woven through the curriculum, and good support for learners with additional needs.

Assessment was the one area rated as working towards, and the next steps are to build more consistent teaching and assessment through professional learning on formative assessment, set specific writing targets for learners below and above year-level expectations, and keep evaluating the school’s attendance plan until regular attendance meets the government target.
