What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025, covering learning in its English-medium classes after significant staffing changes, including an acting principal. ERO found that improvements are needed in teaching and in how well learners engage, progress and achieve.

Less than half of learners meet the expected curriculum level in reading, writing or maths, results are not yet even across groups, and the school had not lifted progress for learners most at risk or for those at or above expectations since its previous review.

Only a small majority of learners attend regularly, the school is behind the government’s attendance target and did not yet have a suitable attendance plan.

On the positive side, ERO found that learners have a strong sense of inclusion and wellbeing in a setting that reflects their culture, language and identity, learners with complex needs are well supported, and partnerships with outside specialists, including attendance services, support students.

ERO’s priorities are for the school to write an attendance plan, set achievement targets in literacy and maths, monitor more closely the learners who need to make faster progress, build teachers’ skill with the new literacy and maths assessments, and put structured literacy and maths firmly in place.

ERO found the school was not making progress towards the government’s reading, writing and maths targets, and the school agrees that meeting them must become a key strategic priority.

Enrolling

With no home zone, any student can apply, including multilingual and international fee-paying students. Families can pre-enrol once their child turns four using the online form on the school’s enrolment page, and the office then arranges a meeting with the principal and classroom teacher.

New entrants start school in groups on set cohort entry dates, and the school suggests contacting the office well before a child’s fifth birthday to book a series of school visits.
