What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from February 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well the school is building a rich local curriculum that reflects its whole community and meets the needs of every learner, drawing on its rural setting.

ERO pointed to leaders and staff who take part in relevant professional learning that strengthens teaching and supports student progress, well-developed systems for internal evaluation and a culture of continuous improvement, and leadership that guides staff in building their knowledge and practice.

Next, the school plans to build relationships with local hapū and iwi, take part in professional learning on culturally responsive teaching, work out how to bring the Aotearoa New Zealand histories curriculum into its teaching, and introduce tikanga and te reo Māori into daily school life.
